Description:

Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A pair of watchful leaded-copper and limestone eyes and brows. The leaded-copper rims encircle the limestone eyes, and the outer corners are elongated to mimic the dramatic cosmetic eyeliner that was popular in ancient Egypt. The white limestones are painted with round black irises. Thin arching brows complete this striking visage that gazes forward. These pieces were once part of a burial mask for a mummy. Size (one eye): 2.625" L x .75" W (6.7 cm x 1.9 cm); 2.124" H (5.4 cm) on included custom stand.
