Egypt, Coptic culture, 5th to 8th century CE. A hand-carved ungulate or bovine bone idol of an abstract pair of standing figures that are tooth shaped with minimalistic features. The surfaces are smoot as if they were often touched. Talismans such as these may have been carried as protection against the "evil eye" and were often buried the deceased. Size: 3.125" L x 1.125" W (7.9 cm x 2.9 cm); 3.65" H (9.3 cm) on included custom stand.
