Egypt, Coptic Period, ca. 4th to 7th century CE. A lovely textile fragment depicting a woman with her arms raised towards the sky. The stylized female figure wears a vertically striped skirt adorned with red and green pigment, and her body and facial features are outlined with red fibers; her puffy coiffure is decorated in black. Size: 7.75" W x 11.5" H (19.7 cm x 29.2 cm)
