Description:

Egypt, Late Dynastic, Dynasty 26, ca. 664 to 525 BCE. An exemplary faience plaque depicting the Egyptian goddess Isis in a gorgeous shade of turquoise. Shown kneeling, the famed deity wears a broad breast plate, as she rests her right hand in her lap and raises her left to her forehead, perhaps attempting to cover her face in mourning. Facing right, her profiled visage showcases a naturalistic ear, a round cheek, and a button nose, topped by a lovely nemes. Isis sits on an integral plinth in the shape of a footed cup with a broad rim, a shallow basin, and low hanging handles. Dressed in a sheer burial garment, a long rectangular object tops her magnificent nemes. Size: 1" W x 2.25" H (2.5 cm x 5.7 cm); 2.875" H (7.3 cm) on included custom stand.
