Description:

Ancient Egypt, Third Intermediate to Late Dynastic Period, ca. 1070 to 332 BCE. A collection of red, yellow, and blue faience seed beads and two faience amulets of mythological figures set into modern 14K gold earring hoops. The amulets hang from the top of the teardrop-shaped hoops above four horizontal rows of colorful beads. Faience was known as "tjehnet" to the ancient Egyptians, meaning brilliant or dazzling. It was made by grinding quartz or sand crystals together with various elements to create multi-colored beads and amulets. A modern, wearable twist on ancient materials! Earring size: 1.75" L x 1" W (4.4 cm x 2.5 cm); amulet size: .75" L x .25" W (1.9 cm x 0.6 cm)
