Description:

Egypt, New Kingdom to Late Dynastic Period, ca. 1550 to 332 BCE. A multistrand Egyptian faience bead necklace composed of tubular and seed beads in soft blue, beige, and white hues. These ancient beads, once adorning an individual in life or interred as part of a burial assemblage, were originally strung in antiquity but were discovered loose after their original organic cords had long since decayed. Carefully gathered and sorted by color, they have been artfully re-strung in modern times with a secure magnetic clasp, allowing them to be worn once again. The necklace is designed to hang with one strand slightly shorter than the other, creating a graceful layered effect. Size of strand: 28" L (71.1 cm); tubular beads: 0.3" L x 0.1" W (0.8 cm x 0.3 cm)
