Description:

Egypt, New Kingdom to Late Dynastic Period, ca. 1550 to 332 BCE. A necklace of ancient Egyptian faience beads, carefully restrung on a modern strand with a magnetic clasp for wearability. The necklace is composed of five strands of small tubular and discoid beads in hues ranging from pale turquoise to sandy beige, each strand consolidating into a single terminal at either end. The beads are crafted from faience, a siliceous material admired by the Egyptians for its luminous glaze that evoked both fertility and the regenerative qualities of the Nile. Such beads were not only decorative but also carried symbolic associations with rebirth and divine protection, making them common elements in both personal adornment and funerary assemblages. Size of largest bead: 0.5" L x 0.1" W (1.3 cm x 0.3 cm); of strand: 27" L (68.6 cm)

Now reconfigured for modern wear while preserving their ancient character, the strands retain their enchanting play of colors, their aged surfaces bearing witness to millennia of history. This necklace seamlessly bridges antiquity and the present, offering both a wearable jewel and a timeless relic of Egyptian craftsmanship.
