**First Time At Auction**

Ancient Egypt, Third Intermediate to Late Dynastic Period, ca. 1070 to 332 BCE. An elegant, wearable necklace composed of hundreds of glazed faience seed beads strung in modern times with modern findings and clasp. Two lovely strands of tubular and disc shapes and beautiful turquoise, amber, white, sage, beige, teal, and dark blue hues are arranged in a balanced design. The ancient Egyptians referred to faience as "tjehnet" - meaning brilliant or dazzling - and was made from ground quartz or sand crystals together with various elements. Faience beads were used in everyday jewelry and were also used to make burial nets to be placed over mummies. This attractive necklace displays the artistry of the ancient Egyptians in a beautiful piece of wearable art! Size: upper strand measures 18" L (45.7 cm); lower attached strand measures 14.5" L (36.8 cm)
