Ancient Egypt, Third Intermediate to Late Dynastic Period, ca. 1070 to 332 BCE. A beautiful and wearable necklace composed of hundreds of glazed faience beads in seed and tubular forms. Slender tube-form beads are interspersed between small groups of seed beads in a plethora of vibrant hues, and displayed in the center is an orange-hued carnelian pendant of a lozenge form. Strung in modern times and capped with a modern gold-filled loop and lobster clasp, this is a gorgeous example of ancient art meets modern fashion! Size (necklace): 25.25" L (64.1 cm); size of largest bead (carnelian pendant): 0.625" W x 0.6" H (1.6 cm x 1.5 cm).
