Ancient Egypt, Third Intermediate to Late Dynastic Period, ca. 1070 to 332 BCE. A beautiful and wearable necklace composed of ancient faience seed beads that range in color from pale yellow to red to deep blue, separated by longer cylindrical faience beads in varying shades of brown and blue. Much of the necklace is in a latticework pattern, with single strings leading to the terminals. In the center of the necklace is a pale blue faience pendant that appears to be the monkey form associated with the god Thoth. Size: 18" L (of string); size of pendant: 0.25" W x 0.75" H (45.7 cm; 0.6 cm x 1.9 cm)
