Description:

Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A lovely glazed miniature amulet of an ithyphallic dwarf figure, mold-formed from pistachio-green faience, perhaps representing the dwarf deity Bes. The kneeling figure is depicted with his large phallus extended in front with elongated arms holding either side, with drooping eyes, a small mouth, and a simple cap defining his head. A petite piercing through the verso indicates this was likely worn as an amulet of virility for the living or for protection of the dead. Custom museum-quality display stand included. Size: 1.3" W x 0.75" H (3.3 cm x 1.9 cm); 1.25" H (3.2 cm) on included custom stand.
