Description:

Egypt, Late Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A beautiful group of ancient amber and faience beads, on a modern string so they can be worn today! There are dozens of bright blue faience cylinder beads, interspersed with coffee-colored faience seed beads. These form linkages between the large, ovoid natural amber beads. In antiquity, amber was associated with the sun, and often burned in temples as a form of incense, renowned for its healing powers. Length of strand: 26" L (66 cm); size of largest amber bead: 1.1" W (2.8 cm)
