Egypt, Old Kingdom, ca. 2700 to 2200 BCE. This is a striated cream brown stone carved jar with a thin rim, rounded shoulders, and an ovoid body with a flat base. This piece is in beautiful condition and looks almost exactly like it would have for its original owner! Small jars like this were used to store cosmetics and perfumes, which were a common part of life for both men and women in ancient Egypt. Size: 2-3/4" H x 2-1/4" W (7 cm x 5.7 cm).
