Description:

Reigns of Tuthmose III - Amenhotep II, 1479-1400 BCE. Noted 18th Dynasty Egyptian cone stamped with well-shaped hieroglyphs arranged in a rather unorthodox manner. Four human-shaped hieroglyphs mark the end of names or titles. Macadam renounced to make a translation of the text observing that the sense of the writing was obscure. Zenihiro proposes to read: The musician of Amun (?), Renna; the deputy of the overseer of the seal (?), Amenhotep. The cone may belong to the newly-rediscovered 'lost' tomb C.3 owned by Amenhotep, entitled there as a 'Deputy of the overseer of the seal-bearers' and by his wife Renna, also mentioned on the cone. Front face diameter 3.3" (8.4 cm), length 4.6" (11.8 cm).

Registered as no. 374 in Macadam's Corpus.
