Description:

Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A fragmentary, mold-formed faience goddess figure, perhaps Isis or her sister Nephthys. The woman stands in a classic striding pose with her left thigh forward and holding both arms tightly against her waist. Her countenance presents with bulging ovoid eyes, a prominent triangular nose, thin lips, and cupped ears framed within the lappets of her tripartite wig. Reflective layers of blue-green patina envelop the fragment in a wash of color. Size: 0.5" W x 1" H (1.3 cm x 2.5 cm)
