Description:

Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th Dynasty, ca. 664 to 525 BCE. A mold-formed faience ushabti standing in mummiform and holding a pick and hoe in crossed arms. The puffy visage presents with almond-shaped eyes, full cheeks, and a false beard, and the lappets of the tripartite wig drape over the shoulders. The pistachio green glaze provides a layer of attractive color to this ushabti, and a translated columnar inscription reads, "The Venerated Osiris, Amon-redjy-es, true of voice." Size: 0.8" W x 3.3" H (2 cm x 8.4 cm)

  • Condition: Old chip to one frontal corner of plinth as indicated by presence of glaze. Softening to some facial details and inscribed hieroglyphs, light fading to original glaze pigment, and minor pitting, otherwise intact and very good. Nice preservation to hieroglyphs and glaze.
