**First Time At Auction**

Ancient Egypt, Third Intermediate Period, 21st to 25th Dynasty, ca. 1070 to 664 BCE. A mold-formed faience ushabti figure standing in mummiform atop an integral plinth. The figure holds a pick and hoe in arms crossed atop the chest. The face exhibits bony cheeks, recessed eyes, and a false beard, all framed within a dark-blue tripartite wig. Size: 1.125" W x 3.875" H (2.9 cm x 9.8 cm); 4.25" H (10.8 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: private Vero Beach, Florida, USA collection, acquired 1980s; ex-Drouot Auction House, Paris, France

  • Condition: Repaired from three large pieces across middle of legs, with nearly invisible adhesive residue along break lines. Abrasions and fading to glaze pigment mostly along verso of dorsal pillar and softening to some finer details particularly on face. Nice remains of glaze pigment throughout.
