Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A mold-formed faience ushabti standing in mummiform while crossing a pick and hoe across the chest, all covered in coarse, turquoise-hued glaze. The dignified face presents with almond eyes, a plaited false beard, and a lengthy wig, and a T-shaped bar of hieroglyphs is inscribed across the legs and midsection. Size: 1.125" W x 4.4" H (2.9 cm x 11.2 cm)

Provenance: private Vero Beach, Florida, USA collection, acquired in Paris in the 1980s; ex-private old French collection
