Description:

Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. An attractive mold-formed faience ushabti covered in lustrous glaze of a pale turquoise hue. The figure stands in mummiform atop an integral rectangular plinth, holds a pick and hoe across the chest, and has a seed bag incised behind the left shoulder. The head features almond-shaped eyes, a broad nose, full lips, and a plaited false beard that are presented beneath a simple tripartite wig. An incised hieroglyphic inscription is displayed along the obverse side and, while untranslated, provides the names of Osiris and the deceased. Size: 1.125" W x 3.875" H (2.9 cm x 9.8 cm)
