Description:

Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A fine offering bowl carved from yellow-white alabaster with a flat base, gradually expanding walls, and a thick rim surrounding the shallow basin. The integral veining and inclusions within the alabaster illuminate when the vessel is held next to a bright light. Offering bowls like this example were used in temples and placed in the tombs of people at all class levels. Size: 4.7" W x 2.4" H (11.9 cm x 6.1 cm).
