Description:

Egypt, Late Dynastic, ca. 664 to 343 BCE. A lovely cosmetic jar, skillfully hand-carved from alabaster with natural bands in honey, peach, and cream hues. The elegant vessel displays a piriform body with a slender neck adorned by a projecting lip just before the circular, flared rim. Vessels like this example were likely used to store cosmetics within their deep interior reservoir. Size: 1.375" in diameter x 5.5" H (3.5 cm x 14 cm); 5.75" H (14.6 cm) on included custom stand.
