Description:

Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A lovely mold-formed faience ushabti, the body covered in a light-blue glaze and the tripartite wig in darker, cobalt-hued glaze. The figure stands in mummiform atop an integral rectangular plinth with crossed arms holding the symbolic pick and hoe to tend the fields of Osiris in the afterlife. The worn visage boasts almond-shaped eyes, a petite nose, full lips, and a false beard. The erect posture is emphasized with an integral pillar along the verso. Size: 1.1" W x 3.875" H (2.8 cm x 9.8 cm).
