Description:

Ancient Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A cast-bronze votive amulet depicting Osiris, the god of the afterlife and lord of the underworld. He is depicted standing in mummiform atop a petite plinth and holding his signature flagellum and heka scepter in arms crossed atop the chest. His minimalist countenance is composed of almond-shaped eyes, a petite nose, and a plaited false beard, all beneath an Atef crown replete with a frontal uraeus cobra and pair of broad ostrich feathers indicative of the Cult of Osiris. Fine layers of brown, green, and russet patina have formed across this fine example of ancient Egyptian artistry! Size: 1" W x 3.25" H (2.5 cm x 8.3 cm); 4.25" H (10.8 cm) on included custom stand.
