Ancient Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, Dynasties 26 through 30, ca. 662 to 315 BCE. Faience amulet displaying the upper body of Isis, the goddess of magic and healing, as she holds her right hand up to her left breast to suckle her child. Gazing forward, the deity wears a tripartite wig incised with a grid motif, a uraeus cobra, and a step crown. A suspension loop on her verso would have allowed her to once be worn as a bead or amulet. Size: 0.7" W x 1.3" H (1.8 cm x 3.3 cm); 3" H (7.6 cm) on included custom stand.
