Description:

Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A mold-formed pendant of Sekhmet, the lioness-headed goddess of war, military strategy, and healing. Covered in turquoise glaze, Sekhmet stands with legs together and wears an ankle-length sheath dress. Her arms are draped to her sides while her short-cut mane drapes across the tops of her shoulders. Almond-shaped eyes, a condensed snout, perky ears, and a furrowed brow comprised her protruding visage, and her head is surmounted by a sun disc. A suspension hole is situated at the top of the dorsal pillar to enable this figure to be worn as a pendant. Size: 0.6" W x 2.3" H (1.5 cm x 5.8 cm)
