Description:

Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A fine mold-formed faience ushabti covered in a vivid blue-green glaze. The figure stands in mummiform atop an integral rectangular plinth, holds the symbolic pick and hoe in arms crossed atop the chest, and has a small seed bag draped over the left shoulder. The serene visage is composed of almond-shaped eyes, a bulbous nose, full lips, cupped ears, and a braided false beard, and a simple tripartite wig tops the head. A T-shaped bar of inscribed hieroglyphs is presented on the front of the body and legs and, though untranslated, gives the name of the deceased with a protective spell from Osiris. Custom lucite display stand included. Size: 1" W x 4.25" H (2.5 cm x 10.8 cm); 4.75" H (12.1 cm) on included custom stand.
