Description:

Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A mold-formed faience ushabti covered in pale turquoise-hued glaze. The figure stands in mummiform atop an integral rectangular plinth and holds the symbolic pick and hoe in crossed arms. Almond eyes, a perky nose, thin lips, cupped ears, and a false beard comprise the visage, and the head is framed with a tripartite wig. A column of inscribed hieroglyphic text is displayed along the front of the legs, though fading has rendered the symbols illegible. A charming example of ancient Egyptian funerary practices! Size: 1.25" W x 4.4" H (3.2 cm x 11.2 cm).
