Description:

Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A beautiful mold-formed faience ushabti funerary figure covered in layers of faint blue-green glaze. The petite figure stands with fused legs atop an integral trapezoidal base, holds the symbolic pick and hoe in hands crossed atop the chest, and has a seed bag behind the right shoulder. The head boasts almond-shaped eyes, pronounced cheek bones, full lips, and a plaited false beard, all beneath a simple tripartite wig. A column of inscribed hieroglyphic text courses down the front of the legs as well as the back and, while untranslated, likely provides the name of Osiris as well as that of the deceased. Size: 0.9" W x 2.875" H (2.3 cm x 7.3 cm); 3.125" H (7.9 cm) on included custom stand.
