Description:

Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. An attractive mold-formed faience ushabti covered in thick layers of blue-green glaze. The figure stands with fused legs atop an integral rectangular plinth, holds the sacred pick and hoe in hands crossed atop the chest, and has a seed bag incised behind the left shoulder. The serene countenance is composed of slender eyes, a perky nose, full lips, and a plaited false beard, all beneath the folds of the tripartite wig. A T-shaped column of inscribed hieroglyphic text is presented on the front of the legs and, though untranslated, likely provides the name of Osiris as well as that of the deceased. Size: 1.4" W x 4.7" H (3.6 cm x 11.9 cm); 5.2" H (13.2 cm) on included custom stand.
