Description:

Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A mold-formed faience ushabti covered in blue-green glaze. The figure stands in mummiform with fused legs atop an integral plinth, holds a pick and hoe in arms crossed atop the chest, and has a seed bag faintly incised behind the left shoulder. The face bears almond eyes, a bulbous nose, and grinning lips above a plaited false beard, and a tripartite wig covers the head. The lower body features 6 lines of inscribed hieroglyphic text that, while untranslated, likely provides the names of Osiris and the deceased. Size: 1.1" W x 4.25" H (2.8 cm x 10.8 cm)
