Description:

Egyptian, New Kingdom, 19th to 18th Dynasties, ca. 1543 to 1196 BCE. Stone stele carved in sunken relief depicting seated Osiris in composite profile to the left with two adorants to the right, this scene beneath a line of hieroglyphic inscriptions. Osiris is shown in the usual mummified state, wearing the characteristic atef crown, akin to the royal white crown, but with an ostrich feather on either side, and holding the crook and flail of kingship that identifies him as ruler of the deceased. The attendants adoring Osiris may represent Senu, the royal scribe, and his son, the lector priest Pawahy. Both stand with upraised arms in a state of adoration. An exceedingly rare and fine stele. Size: 12-3/4"W x 11-1/2"H (32,4 x 29,2 cm).
