Description:

Ancient Egypt, Middle Kingdom, 11th to 13th Dynasty, ca. 2130 to 1649 BCE. A striking bust of a male figure hand-carved from granite with an age-darkened exterior and bands of natural veining that illuminate when held next to a bright light. The serene countenance is comprised of delicate almond-shaped eyes, a broad nose, smooth cheeks, and high-set ears, all beneath a bulbous bag wig. The broad shoulders support the projecting head, as both hands rest on the chest holding indistinguishable implements. A sizable back pillar is shown on the verso displaying very liberal remains of hieroglyphs. Size: 4" W x 5.1" H (10.2 cm x 13 cm); 8.4" H (21.3 cm) on included custom stand.
