Description:

Ancient Egypt, Middle Kingdom, 11th to 13th Dynasty, near modern-day Aswan, Kubbaniya North, Nubian culture, ca. 2130 to 1649 BCE. A forged-leaded bronze axe head of a unique style with a semicircular blade, a straight spine, and five petite perforations between a pair of hooked flanges. Axe heads like these were bound to the ends of wooden poles by stringing thread or wire through the spine perforations and ultimately knotting the bindings along the upper and lower flanges. Mottled green and brown patina covers the entire weapon. Lucite display stand for photography purposes only. Size: 5.25" L x 1.9" W (13.3 cm x 4.8 cm)
