Description:

Ancient Egypt, Middle Kingdom, 12th Dynasty, ca. 1991 to 1802 BCE. A hand-carved steatite scarab of petite size. The topside displays stylized insectile features, and the bottom is inscribed with a series of hieroglyphs - some mirrored on each side - that perhaps acted as a protective talisman for its owner at one time. Size: 0.48" L x 0.32" W x 0.19" H (1.2 cm x 0.8 cm x 0.5 cm)
