Description:

Ancient Egypt, New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty, ca. 1550 to 1292 BCE. A turquoise-glazed faience amulet depicting Isis, goddess of magic and healing, wearing a set of Hathoric horns that flank a sun disc. The imagery of Isis wearing Hathor horns can be seen as a symbol of the goddess's maternal and protective qualities, as well as her connection to the mysteries of life, death, and rebirth. This amalgamation of symbols reflects the ancient Egyptian belief in the interconnectedness of various deities and their attributes, often merging them to create a more encompassing and powerful representation. Size: 0.75" L x 0.5" W x 1.9" H (1.9 cm x 1.3 cm x 4.8 cm); 3.2" H (8.1 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: Collection of Dr. W. Benson Harer, Los Angeles, California, USA; ex-Philip Mitry collection, noted antiquarian in Egypt, prior to 1951
