Description:

Ancient Egypt, New Kingdom Period, 18th to 20th Dynasty, ca. 1550 to 1070 BCE. A fabulous pair of wood ushabtis, each standing in mummiform position with arms crossed and wearing tripartite wigs. Liberal remains of gesso as well as brown and black pigments adorn their bodies. Size of largest (both about the same): 1.9" W x 7" H (4.8 cm x 17.8 cm)

  • Condition: One has perforation at midsection; thicker has chipping with minor loss to right side. Both have losses to feet, chipping to face, and a few old insect holes. Great signs of age wear and liberal remains of gesso and pigment. Rich patina to wood.
