Description:

Ancient Egypt, New Kingdom, 18th to 20th Dynasty, ca. 1550 to 1070 BCE. A petite offering cup made from highly-burnished blackware pottery that bears a layer of creamy white gesso with faint remains of applied orange-red pigment. The conical vessel exhibits a flat base and a rounded rim, and the deep interior is meant to hold offerings to various deities related to the death and the afterlife. Size: 2.5" H (6.4 cm); 2.75" H (7 cm) on included custom stand.

  • Condition: Minor nicks and pitting to exposed blackware surfaces, with chipping to nearly all painted gesso, and fading to petite remains of original pigment, otherwise intact and very good. Nice earthen deposits and very faint remains of original pigment on gesso remains.
