Description:

Ancient Egypt, Middle Kingdom, 11th to 13th Dynasty, ca. 2130 to 1650 BCE. A hand-carved wooden tomb figure, perhaps a female, presenting in a striding pose while wearing an orange-painted sheath dress or kilt. The maroon-hued figure leans forward while carrying a white tablet bearing black linear motifs. Her facial features are painted in black pigment atop a white ground, and a large perforation is drilled through her neck. Size: 0.9" W x 4.8" H (2.3 cm x 12.2 cm); 5.875" H (14.9 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: private New York, New York, USA collection; ex-Jay I. Kislak collection, Florida, USA, acquired in the 1970s to 1990s
