Ancient Art. Egypt, Pre-dynastic period, Naqada II, ca. 3200 BCE. A handbuilt squat bichrome earthenware vessel, the body decorated with a series of red concentric circles (target motifs) of varying sizes, with two pierced lug handles on the shoulder that are accentuated via wavy red lines above and straight horizontal lines upon them. This piece has undergone thermoluminescence testing that confirmed its authenticity and age of 5000 +/- 1000 years. A beautiful example from this very early period. Size: 3.875" in diameter x 3.25" H (9.8 cm x 8.3 cm)
