Egypt, 19th - 20th century, ca. 1292 - 1075 BCE. Steatite scarab decorated with the figure of Bes standing between S-spirals. Bes wears a crown of four large plumes. His ears are indicated as well as the tail that appears between his bandy legs. Bes belonged to the domestic and family world and was the protector of the home and of children.
