Description:

Ancient Egypt, New Kingdom to Late Dynastic Period, 18th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 1550 to 332 BCE. A beautiful and petite beetle-form scarab that is hand-carved from grey steatite. The topside has a retracted wing carapace and a miniscule head, and the bottom is incised with three bands of decorative hieroglyphic patterns. The entire scarab is encased within a modern ovoid setting shaped from gilded iron, and the entire pendant is made wearable via a modern necklace cord. Size (scarab): 0.7" W x 0.375" H (1.8 cm x 1 cm); (necklace): 22" L (55.9 cm)
