Description:

Ancient Egypt, New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty, reign of Thutmose III, ca. 1479 to 1425 BCE. A stunning steatite scarab enveloped in turquoise glaze and set into a modern gold ring to be wearable. Skillfully carved, the top of the stone features characteristic insectile features such as a petite head, sinuous legs, and a folded wing carapace, while the underside is inscribed with glyphs reading "Menkheperre," the throne name of Thutmose III that translates to "Lasting is the Manifestation of Ra." A twisted golden bezel surrounds the insect, nicely contrasting its green glaze, and attaching it to the elegant ring, which is comprised of a slender, tubular band adorned with spiraling gold strands that wrap 8 times around each shoulder. An opulent adornment, perfect for special occasions as well as everyday wear! Size (ring): 0.8" Diameter (2 cm); (scarab): 0.3" W x 0.4" H (0.8 cm x 1 cm); gold quality: 59.6% (equivalent to 14K+); weight: 2.8 grams; US ring size: 6.75
