Ancient Egypt, New Kingdom, 18th to 20th Dynasty, ca. 1550 to 1070 BCE; Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A gathering of 2 hand-carved brown steatite artifacts from ancient Egypt including an ovoid scarab from the New Kingdom and a standing simian amulet from the Late Dynastic Period representing Thoth, the typically ibis-headed god of mathematics and the moon. Size of largest (Thoth amulet): 0.46" L x 0.24" W x 1.45" H (1.2 cm x 0.6 cm x 3.7 cm); (scarab): 0.99" L x 0.77" W x 0.28" H (2.5 cm x 2 cm x 0.7 cm)
