Description:

Egypt, ca. 25th Dynasty, ca. 760 - 656 BCE. A finally carved relief fragment of a Nubian standing in profile, with braided black hair, cross-hatched tunic, and brown painted skin. Wide open eyes staring forward, lips slightly open , and head tilted slightly up. Position of the head indicates this is possibly a servant or attendant, perhaps kneeling at the feet of the Pharaoh or a god. Identified by the Denver Art Museum as a Nubian. 5-1/2"H x 4-1/2"W. 

Provenance: Ex-private V. Gagnon collection acquired in Egypt in the 1920's.
