Ancient Egypt, Late Dynastic to Ptolemaic Period, ca. 664 to 30 BCE; Rome, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. A set of 2 artifacts from the ancient world. First is a petite pottery lid from ancient Egypt used to cover a vessel, perhaps to safeguard left gifts of food or trinkets at temple sites. Second is a translucent glass vial exhibiting vertical, pattern-molded ribs around the body as well as a flared rim on top. Size (plate): 3" W x 0.7" H (7.6 cm x 1.8 cm); (vial): 1.375" L x 1.25" W x 2.4" H (3.5 cm x 3.2 cm x 6.1 cm)
