Egyptian to Roman, & Central Asia, cultures, ca. 1000 BCE to 1900 CE. Two wearable necklaces composed of ancient and antique beads, assembled and restrung in modern times. The strands are made from an attractive variety of materials, including mottled black steatite, tiny faience discs, pale shell spacers, and warm orange carnelian beads. The vibrant palette and textural contrast between polished semi-precious stones and earthy ceramic elements reflect a cross-cultural assemblage of personal ornament spanning the ages. Each necklace is strung for modern wear, the shorter strands has a hook clasp. Size of longer strand: 25" L (63.5 cm); largest bead: 0.6" Diameter (1.5 cm)
