Egypt, New Kingdom, ca. 1500 BCE. This is a faience udjat (or wedjat) that symbolizes the Eye of Horus and is a symbol of protection, royal power, and good health. The glaze is green and there are black details on the pupil and brow. An object like this might have been carried by an individual or placed in a tomb. Size: 1-3/4" W; with custom stand, 1-1/2" H (4.4 cm; 3.8 cm).
