Description:

Egyptian, 3rd Intermediate Period, 21st Dynasty, 1080 to 945 BCE. Lovely blue ushabti with faint remains of black hieroglyphs. Traditional rope headdress and painted black seed basket on back, implying that this ushabti would farm and be a "servant" to the deceased in the afterlife. Traditional static pose, intended to house this servant's ka or spirit for eternity. Measurements for ushabti by itself. The stand adds 1.625 inches. Ushabtis are one of the most popular Egyptian collectibles - a wonderful example of Egyptian funerary culture. 1.50"W x 4.50"H (3.81 W x 11.43 H cm) Provenance: Ex-Private Santa Barbara collection; All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
