Description:

Egypt, Late Ptolemaic Period, 1st BCE - 1st CE. An unusual ushabti box depicting an embalming scene, with references to a procession of two gods, Dendur, Uraeus the Serpent, in the great shrine, the province of the Bull, and a god holding flowers. Ushabtis were the 400 +/- small figures depicting the servants of well-to-do Egyptians who accompanied them to the afterworld. Size: 20"L x 12-1/2"H without stand; 22-1/2" with stand, sides 4", bottom 5".

Provenance: Acquired by the present owner at the Drouot auction house in Paris, France in the 70’s; previously in an old French collection.
