Description:

Etruria, northern Italy, Etrusco-Corinthian, ca. 630 to 540 BCE. An elegant pottery oinochoe presenting a trefoil spout, a conical neck, a rounded shoulder, and an apple-shaped body, all sitting upon a discoid base. Painted with black slip on red buff terracotta, the vessel is adorned with several horizontal bands, ranging in thickness, as well as a series of short, vertical striations that line the shoulder. A graceful example from ancient Italy! Size: 6" Diameter x 10" H (15.2 cm x 25.4 cm)

  • Condition: Professional repair and restoration to handle, as well as chipping to rim. Some small chips, nicks, and abrasions to surface, but otherwise body is intact and all has an excellent presentation. Good remaining pigments. Some sand has encrusted in small nicks creating tiny light colored spots in areas.
